The Rules

This is a place for the members and friends of HC's Department of Languages and Literatures to share creative works and start (or continue) conversations about the things we love—languages, books, films, television shows, and whatever else we find interesting.

You know the DLL is not a fan of censorship—read a banned book!—but we want this blog to be a virtual refuge for our students and alumni, a place where we can all enjoy the fun and comaraderie of literature, language, and film classes in McCormick Hall. Please use good judgment in your posts and comments.

What does that mean?
  1. Be kind and supportive. The Gold Room is supposed to be a welcoming place. Do you need to point out grammar errors? Do you need to be always right?
  2. This isn't the place to provoke a fight. Have an opinion, disagree with people, debate respectfully . . . but don't come here lookin' to start a fight.
  3. Swear words are okay. Just remember that some people will be put off by that. This isn't Reddit.
  4. Nobody wants to see pictures of genitals. Especially your genitals.
  5. Cite your sources. You won't be graded on anything you share on this blog site, but we should all still practice ethical and responsible authorship.
The Gold Room's administrators reserve the right to remove contributor or comment privileges from anyone who violates these rules.
